Biotechnology and its Applications

1Biotechnological Applications in Agriculture

Agriculture: a named GM look as taught (Bt if listed) — a trait-job, school-size. Application is a use, not a brand and not a how-to farm. One trait-sentence is enough.

A brand-seed as “the science” is a miss.

Figure. The cry gene is only the start. Cotton makes an inactive protoxin; the alkaline insect midgut is the switch that turns it into a pore-forming toxin. A human stomach is acidic, so the same protein stays inert there.

2Biotechnological Applications in Medicine

Medicine: insulin, a named therapy, or a diagnostic as taught. Medicine is a care-job, not a clinic-manual. One insulin-from-a-host sentence is enough if framed.

A pill-ad as the whole heading is a miss.

Figure. Class 12 medicine figure is the two-chain assembly, not a brand name. E. coli makes peptide A and peptide B on separate plasmids; disulfide bonds then join them into mature insulin. Mammalian C-peptide is never in this factory route.

3Transgenic Animals

Transgenic animals: an animal carrying a taught extra gene-look. Transgenic is a research or a named product-look, school-size — not a film. One honest sentence is enough.

A rumour as “the science” is the wrong size.

Figure. A transgenic animal is a host that received a chosen gene and then expresses it. The exam picture is the pipeline — gene, embryo, animal, useful product — not a drawing of a cow. Rosie is one worked product: human protein in milk.

4Ethical Issues

Ethical issues: a taught caution-list (safety, choice, a named rule if framed). Ethics is a caution-sentence, not a scare and not a skip of the science. One honest caution is enough.

A skull-sticker with no named issue is a mute scare.

Figure. Ethics in this chapter is two jobs, not a slogan. GEAC reviews a planned GM release. Biopiracy is a patent claim on knowledge or a variety that communities already used — Basmati and neem are the school cases.

5A product is not the whole process

A product is not the whole process: insulin or a Bt-look is a leftover; the process sat in the last chapter. Product is a use-name, not cut–join.

A brand as “I explained recombinant DNA” is a miss.

Figure. A vial of insulin is one box at the end. The claim of the chapter is the chain that made it — isolate, insert, express, then bottle. Naming only the product hides every control and every risk that sits in the earlier boxes.

6Keep the claim at this class

Keep the claim at this class: named uses and a caution. It is not a patent-essay and not a farm-manual.

A journal-abstract tone is the wrong size.

Figure. Class 12 stops at Bt cotton, recombinant insulin, transgenic products, GEAC and biopiracy. Extra industrial catalogues and contest exception lists belong later. The figure keeps those two shelves apart so a school answer does not drift.

7A miss: treating a brand name as the science

A miss: treating a brand name as the science. A brand is a handle; the science is the trait-job or the care-job.

A logo as the chapter is the miss.

Figure. Bt cotton is a crop name. The science is cry, protoxin, and the alkaline-gut gate. An answer that only writes the trade or popular name has named a product and missed the mechanism the marks sit on.
