Exploring Forces

1What Is a Force?
A force is a push or a pull that can start, stop, speed up, slow, or turn a motion, or change a shape, as taught. Force is the push-or-pull, not the object’s name.
A still book has gravity and a table-push as a pair — still is not “no force”.

2What Are the Different Types of Forces?
Types you were taught: muscular, friction, gravity, magnetic, electrostatic as named — each is a push-or-pull with a source you can point to. Contact versus non-contact is a useful split if the lesson used it.
“Energy” as a blur-word is not a type of force here.

3Weight and Its Measurement
Weight at this class is the Earth’s pull on a mass — a force you read on a spring balance in newtons if that is the tool. Mass is the amount of stuff (kg). A heavier bag on the balance is a larger pull, not a larger “kg-force” mix-up.
Saying “weight is 5 kg” is the everyday mix this heading tries to split.

4Floating and Sinking
Floating and sinking: a body in a fluid feels an upward push (upthrust) as taught. If that push matches the weight, it can float; if weight wins, it sinks. A dense stone sinks in water; a closed empty bottle can float — density comes more fully in a later chapter, so stay with push-versus-weight here.
“Heavy things sink” fails on a heavy log that floats.

5A definition is a test you can run
Force is a test: a push or pull you can name, with a change it can cause. If you only say “force happened”, you have a heading.
A superhero poster is not the test.

6Name the given before the unknown
The given is the type or the float-setup. The unknown is the source or float/sink. Copy the two forces before you say “heavy”.
A steel ship that floats is a silent given you skipped if you said all metal sinks.
Figure. Name the given cause before the unknown change. Here the push is known; the new motion is what you ask. A gadget name is not the given.

7One worked case is enough at this class
One push-example or one float-compare is enough. A page of the same spring-clone does not add a new type.
Ten twins of one shove are still one idea.

8A miss: swapping the school name for the picture
A tug-of-war photo is a setting. The science is the named pushes. Counting faces and skipping the pull-word is the swap-miss.
A muddy rope is not a force-type.
