Locomotion and Movement

1Types of Movement

Types of movement: amoeboid, ciliary, muscular as taught — a look of how a bit moves. Movement is a local-look; locomotion is the next heading’s place-change. One cell-crawl and one muscle-pull as two types is enough.

A bone-name as a movement-type is a miss.

2Muscle

Muscle: skeletal, smooth, cardiac as taught — pull-tissues. A fibre, actin/myosin if named, is the school inner look. Muscle is a pull-job, not a bone. Fatigue as a named limit if taught.

A ligament labelled muscle because it is “tough” is a miss.

3Skeletal System

Skeletal system: bones and cartilage as the frame as taught; axial versus appendicular if split. Skeleton is a support-and-lever map, not a Halloween sticker. One named bone as a case, not a hundred-name dump.

A muscle-list as the skeleton is a swap.

Figure. Axial bones hold the trunk axis. Appendicular bones are the limbs and the girdles that hang them on that axis.

4Joints

Joints: where bones meet — fibrous, cartilaginous, synovial as taught. A joint is a meet-and-move (or meet-and-hold) look. Ball-and-socket versus hinge if named. Joint is not a muscle.

A biceps as “the joint” is a miss.

Figure. A hinge lets the two bones swing in one plane. A ball-and-socket lets them swing in more than one plane. The diagram is the allowed motion, not a carved joint.

5Disorders of Muscular and Skeletal System

Disorders of muscular and skeletal system: a named job-fail (arthritis, a dystrophy mention as taught) as name-plus-what-fails. Not a scare, not a gym-ad, not a treatment-manual.

A skull-sticker with no fail-word is a mute scare.

Figure. A disorder is named by the job that stops: the joint no longer slides, the muscle no longer pulls, or the bone no longer bears. The name is not the science until the failed job is stated.

6Locomotion is movement that changes place

Locomotion is movement that changes place: walk, run, a named gait as taught. Locomotion needs the pull-plus-frame you just named. A sit-and-wave is movement, not locomotion.

A heart-beat as locomotion is a miss — place did not change.

Figure. Movement can stay in one place — an arm wave. Locomotion is the subset that walks the whole body to a new place.

7A miss: treating a bone name as the science of movement

A miss: treating a bone name as the science of movement. “Femur” with no pull-or-joint job is a sticker. Movement science is type, muscle, joint, place-change.

A hundred-name list with no job is the miss.

A clinic-manual tone is the wrong size.
